Every time we go to Santana Row, the kids see the Winchester Mystery House, and beg to go. Amber said she wanted to go on her birthday, so the time finally came to visit the 160 room mansion.
Sarah Winchester inherited A LOT of money when her husband died. The story is that she was then haunted by spirits, that told her she must forever build on to her house, or she will die just as her husband and baby daughter had.
The tour was an hour long, and it was interesting to see the inside of the house and just how many rooms there were. Much of it was left unfinished. It was like a maze inside, and it would be very easy to get lost.
Too bad we couldn't take pictures of the inside - it wasn't allowed.
After our mansion tour, we looked around the gift shop and gardens. Then it was time for lunch, so we headed over to Santana Row. We decided to try Blow Fish Sushi.
Yummmmm!
Dessert time for the birthday girl! Amber had a banana crepe with sweet cream ice cream.
A green tea cheese cake zen garden for Nick and Michael......And a trio of chocolates for Karina and me!

Afterwards, we drove to the Great Mall in Milpitas - that place is huge! (no pictures of that) It was a fun weekend to celebrate Amber's birthday...
