This past summer, the kids and I came up with this thing-we-do called a "Get Up and Go Day," where we just pick up and go to some city nearby, and explore it. We have explored Palo Alto, San Carlos, and San Mateo so far. Today we decided to explore downtown Menlo Park. We started off walking down the street that is filled with shops, most of which were decorated for Christmas...
My kids are getting kind of big for toy stores, but we found this one, and it was awesome. They had some really unique toys and we were in there for about 45 minutes.
We went to a bookstore...
We had lunch in a cafe...here is Karina enjoying a cheesecake
...and Nicky eating a sausage sandwich that he said was "Heaven In a Bun." WOW!
..and yes, he wore these glasses the entire time. Sigh! My kid has style...too much style.We visited several more shops - some we may have normally past up, but we were cold so we welcomed any chance to get inside. Just as we were headed back to our car, we saw this place...
We knew that even though we were cold, we just had to sample a cream soda ice cream float. I mean, look at this place! How could we not?
